The Arkansas Waiver Association is a not-for-profit corporation guided by a Board of Directors who serve without compensation of any kind. The majority of our Board Members are persons with a developmental disability or a family member. The rest of the Board is composed of professionals who work for developmental disability community providers. Our membership is from the same groups. We seek to improve the quality of life for persons with a developmental disability and their families through active advocacy, open communications, and an exchange of professional ideas.

The AWA membership requirement, like our mission statement, is straight forward. You need only believe in the concept of "quality, integrated community supports." If you cannot get behind the idea of community services in an integrated environment for persons with a developmental disability, then an AWA membership is probably not for you.

Dues? AWA does not charge dues.
Membership puts your name on our mailing list so that you can receive an occasional alert and invitations to our annual conference. It also entitles you to vote at our annual membership meeting. We'll keep you posted on what's happening in the Arkansas DD world from the "What's Happening" section of this Web page.
